How To Keep Your Strawberries Fresh for Longer

Instructions:

1. Prepare the vinegar solution: In a large bowl or basin, mix one part white vinegar with three parts water. Make sure there’s enough solution to fully submerge the strawberries.

2. Soak the strawberries: Place the fresh strawberries in a colander or strainer and gently rinse them under cold water. Transfer the strawberries to the vinegar solution, ensuring they are fully immersed. Allow them to soak for about five minutes.

3. Rinse and dry: After the soaking time, remove the strawberries from the vinegar solution and rinse them thoroughly under cold water to remove any lingering vinegar taste. Transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate or clean kitchen towels to dry. Pat them gently to remove excess moisture.

4. Air dry: Let the strawberries air dry completely to ensure they are moisture-free. This step is crucial, as moisture can accelerate spoilage.

5. Store properly: Once the strawberries are dry, transfer them to an airtight container or storage bags. If using bags, gently remove any excess air before sealing. Place the container or bags in the refrigerator.
