Lasagna Roll-Ups with Creamy Tomato Sauce Recipe

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a skillet, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is softened. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
Stir in the marinara sauce and simmer for 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
Lay out the cooked lasagna noodles on a clean work surface. Spread a generous spoonful of the cheese mixture evenly over each noodle.
Spoon a portion of the meat sauce over the cheese layer on each noodle, spreading it out evenly.
Carefully roll up each noodle starting from one end to the other. Place the lasagna roll-ups seam-side down in a greased baking dish.
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the all-purpose flour to make a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth, then add the marinara sauce. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
Season the creamy tomato sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
Pour the creamy tomato sauce over the lasagna roll-ups in the baking dish, covering them evenly.
Sprinkle extra shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the top, if desired.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the roll-ups are heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Once done, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to lightly brown the cheese.
Garnish the Lasagna Roll-Ups with Creamy Tomato Sauce with fresh parsley before serving.
Serve hot and enjoy these delicious and comforting roll-ups!
